Dreadfane

Sounds like it might, at least initially, be a Barnes & Noble (therefore US) exclusive, much like Space Marine Adventures and Blood Bowl Blitz Bowl.

And this sentence from the original announcement seems to back it up a bit:
"and coming later this year to bookshops and selected stores"

Anyone know what this is all about? Is this the next step in Nightvault’s evolution by adding hazard cards?

It's not season 3, it's a standalone intro boxed game for sale in book shops etc. Might not even make it out of America.

The two bands in it are made from existing AoS models and we've been told they'll be available separately later. The board is a single piece rather than two boards you can rearrange. Nobody knows what those extra cards are, hazards is a guess.

At the moment I'm assuming it's not of interest to us.

I'd be interested in it, but I'm not going to be paying for shipping from the US (or maybe Germany, conflicting reports on that).

It's one of a series of games GW have released/will release that have gone into the Barnes & Noble book stores in the US, as starter/introductory games aimed at non-gamers. There's already been a Blood Bowl-based game (Blitz Bowl), maybe another I forget and there are others planned.

That being the case, why aren't we seeing these sneak in Waterstones?

Because they were, at least Blitz Bowl and another, Barnes & Noble exclusives, and not intended for the UK market. :(
