In amongst the vague recollections and misremberings, some of us (read: everyone bar Tom and Ben :lol: ) got it wrong in one way or another (even in practice games).

When you pick up a treasure it CAN cause two effects:
Slowed - everyone: causes movement to be halved (hence why the 'Run for It' rule was needed!)
Encumbered - if the model is carrying a shield, 2-h weapon, bow, crossbow or staff (so basically, anything other than daggers and hand weapons) it is encumbered and has -1 Fight (so in combat and against shooting)


Mat and i remembered this. That is why you use thieves.

The others were overdoing it having the thieves not be slowed as well.

You cannot learn a new spell after game 1, that is correct (experience before treasure).

However, after game 2 you can learn as many new spells as you have levels. Your are still limited to one stat and one spell increase. (P.83 & 84).

So those that had the 100XP left over can use it in game 2, even if you get the max 300, but only if you have 2+ grimoires kicking around.
You could even learn 4 new spells if you have the books and the XP, and forego the stat and spell increase.

They were slow but we only had one creature turn up. A dog.

‘Run for it’ (the 3” move for when you’re slowed and encumbered to below that) takes your entire turn (pg 49) so can’t be done on the same turn as picking treasure up.

Didn’t make a difference in our last game but came up as a thing we weren’t sure on.
