40K escalation campaign.

Now we have a few 40k players I was wondering if there would be some interest in a 40k escalation campaign? Matt Kirk is up for it, me too. Let me know if there is any interest.

I'd play if you fancy allowing the 30k lists as well.

Dave, just hope it doesn't mean you take your survivors onto the next game. :D

Escalation campaign is where you start with 500pts then add 250 each round up to 2000pts. Would 30k be balanced?

The stuff I've seen online suggests that the basic list isn't a problem vs 40k

The base squads starts off more expensive, but additional squad members are typically a bit cheaper.

Also it's space marines without ATSKNF.

It's the lords of war slots that would pose the biggest problem. No one likes volkite cannonades. Agreeing to no lords of war would fix such a theoretical problem.

Is the lord of war slot really still a problem now that normal 40k armies can use it as well? Also the heresy list only allows you to take them at 2000 points or higher so it wouldn't even be available until the last round.

When we have played escalation before it has worked that you have to keep previous units you have bought so you could have a lord of war but it probably won't be a Warhound! You could have Logan though. Also this is our campaign so we could say you can change your entire army each time, whatever most people want. I would be happy to have 30k armies if everyone else fancies it too. It might be a good motivator for me to paint my preheresy Death Guard.

I am happy for any lists to be used, my only concern is lack of air support/anti air options for 30k lists, do they have any?

Bearing in mind I might use my drop troops list or a necron list.......

Cheers,
Dave

Air support and anti air are not a problem at all. There are 3 flyers available in the list, plus the drop pod variants that stay as flyers after they arrive. I believe mortis pattern contemptors are anti air, but to be honest, flyers can probably be taken down with volume of fire in most cases if needed.
