It’s been mentioned I think but official announcement has been made.

Interesting to see so many d12s included, suggests that they are used for something substantial.

So who’s in?!

I'm all over this. I knew there was a reason for owning this ridiculous nid army.

Things we already know from earlier sources:
Units on movement trays for faster movement
Casualties removed at end of round so nothing dies before it gets to do anything
Free rules for all factions downloadable at launch
They claim you will be able to get a giant game into an evening

Really looking forward to it. I'll definitely host some games even if we don't end up playing it at the club. I have space for a suitable size table these days.

Datasheets are up for download now https://warhammer40000.com/apocalypse/datasheets/

Looking at it, the 40k renegade/nurgle soup I was bashing together will come in around 88* power rating - after adding 6 more plague marines (78 without them). But looking at the sheets the wargear options have been (understandably I guess) reduced. So the Chaos lord i spent time putting a combi bolter together for can no longer take this; the marines with plasma guns can't have these and the same goes for the plague marines.
Will either have to do some chopping or proxying

* as an idea of scale this is
1 Chaos Lord
2 Exhaulted Champions
2 Helbrutes
3 Obliterators
20 Cultists
15 Marines
15 Plague Marines - I have 9, but would need another 1 or 6 to pad these out, opted for 6

Don't know if I'd split out to a couple of detachments or run as one big one, or add some more or not as 58 (across around 10 units depending on base size) seems a reasonable size already. And the start collecting type boxes that they previewed the other week have around 30-40ish from the look of it.

Saying that the datasheets for the Blackstone Fortress guys are in there...

Don't worry about the weapon options thing. The whole point of the ruleset is to abstract things so weapon options really don't matter in most cases. Note that a standard tactical squad has no options except the heavy weapon. The special weapon and sergeant options are pretty much irrelevant at this scale.

Yeah, kind of like KoW I guess. Tbh I wasn't too worried about the pox walker/cultist unit not being 100% to the army list so I'll get over the other bits.

Checked my list above against BattleScribe for 40k, for science, and the power level is about the same--it comes to about 1500 points. So you could run a typical size 40k game in a fraction of the time & effort looking at it.

On a side note, Spikey Bits have interpreted it as a sign of a future overhaul for 40k rules

I'm really hoping it works well for smaller games, maybe around 2k or so, as well as the giant ones it is clearly intended for. It's looking good so far from what I've seen. My tyranids are ready to go just as soon as I get my hands on the rules.
