Desperate times call for desperate measures, I’m going to try some solo gaming!

Preamble:
The local Jarl, loyal to the Empire, has hired my mercenary Mage (Caryalin Aedahl) to kill a local Stormcloak warlord who has been pillaging local settlements.

Caryalin has been down on his luck of late and this is a chance for some quick coin and to ingratiate himself with the Jarl, possibly leading to more coin!

Caryalin is a High Elf mage skilled in the arts of Destruction and Alteration.

Thanks! Here’s a report of sorts.

Caryalin successfully snuck up on the first guard and unleashed the flames from his staff, the Stormcloak soldier was able to resist the damage with his cuirass keeping him safe, leaving him within charge range of Caryalin.

The Stormcloak charged in, bellowing some gibberish about Talos. He successfully hit Caryalin with a critical hit! (perhaps I should have cast that armour spell, thought Caryalin). Fortunately it only caused one damage! Reducing the Mage to one wound (it is also fortunate that enemy Minions don’t benefit from the extra damage caused by critical hits!).

Caryalin retaliated with another blast of his staff and this time smote the foe!

Caryalin (who is beginning to think he should have taken a different name as his autoscribe keeps calling him Carolyn) moves forward to engage the second guard. No such trouble this time and the guard is easily dispatched, using up the last soul charge of his magical staff Caryalin will have to use his magika reserve to see off any other foes.

Finally, the Stormcloak warlord strode towards Caryalin, his Nord arrogance would be his undoing as a Fireball was unleashed from the Mage’s hand turning him to ash.

As well as the gold promised by the Jarl Caryalin had found a few septims amongst the guard’s possessions, along with a potion of stamina and a steel dagger.

All in all a successful quest and perhaps Caryalin’s luck was starting to turn. Now to head back to town and claim the bounty.

Nearly an ARBBL event with the first guard. Seeing the cards brings back so many memories of so many hours wandering Skyrim.
