More good news for me

Postby MoodyGit (Gary) » Sun Jul 02, 2017 8:36 pm

Photobucket has started charging $400 a year to use its site. Obviously like many thousands of others will be saying stick it. I currently use it to get my URL for the site so soon all my pictures will be disappearing (surprised is hasn't already happened).

So what does everyone else use?

This is going to take me absolutely ages to sort. :(

Check Imageshack. Haven't used it in a while, but when I did it worked the same as Photobucket.

Everything seems to still be working to me. Unless it's all cached but force reloading still shows them. I use photobucket as well.

It might not be affecting all sites and our forum might be small enough to pass under the radar?

Ignore Imageshack - they went subscription in 2015.

Can't even access Photobucket atm - it doesn't load correctly and I can't access my pics there.

It's the inability to sign on that got me thinking. I agree we may be to small but I'm reading about people's blogs being ruined, I think it's time rather than size they are going by.

What are you using it for? If it's just here then upload the images directly

I use it to get the URL. I didn't think you could do direct to a forum. Use the same system on other forums too.

You can upload images direct in your posts - "Upload attachment" (below the Submit button), add the file you want (I assume you can do so direct from your tablet), then you can either leave it like that, which gives readers a link to press to see the pic, or use the "Place inline" option to get it to display directly as a pic in your post.

If you edit or quote this post, you'll see what I mean.

Now, I leave it to Ray to say if the number of pics uploaded is going to be a cause for concern or not, as I've no idea.

The number of pictures we post really won't ever cause us a problem. Only downside to uploading directly is that you will need to make the images an appropriate size first. I assume you are on windows so I'll have to leave it to someone else to tell you the best way to do that.

I 'think' most of Gary's pics are on his Ipad.

If they're on your laptop, just open them in Paint and resize them.
