Warhammer Fantasy, KoW, AoS Blog

Postby Dave » Sat Oct 09, 2021 3:41 pm

I watched a lot of Warhammer Fantasy battle reports during lock down and Iā€™ve really got a hankering to play it. Having signed Gary up Iā€™m building a small 500 point army to get me started.

We will be playing WHFB 6th edition as that is the edition we have the most in common (in terms of army and rule book ownership).

The idea is that the army will be compatible with KoW and AoS (albeit using square based minis).

I was originally going with Lizardmen but my skink themed list doesnā€™t really work in 6th edition (no cohorts, only skirmishers). After some consideration Iā€™ve decided to go with Vampire Counts, here is my first unit, some Fireforge games undead peasants, a really nice kit.

My dwarfs are all individually based so using them in fantasy would just be a case of working out what is what.

Two Necromancers battling it out could be pretty cool! My choice of armies for 6th is limited.

Excellent! The books are readily available online but I have the Dwarf one you can use.

I was considering my options and just happened to be looking through the vampire book when I read your post. Pretty sure it was going to return to skaven after I looked at all of the pretty things.

My problem is I'm never satisfied with what I already have!

I feel you! Dark Elves, Wood Elves and Beastmen all came a very close second!

Fear is seemingly quite powerful in 6th edition, but you do pay for it (6 points for a Zombie!)

Do Skaven get the +1 leadership per rank in 6th edition?

Iā€™ve finished a unit of Dire Wolves, my approach to this army is very much ā€œget stuff doneā€.......
