Seems dangerous. Announcing things this vague and this far out lets every nerd fill in the missing details with their personal dream desires, leading to much online grumping when said dreams fail to materialise.

I'm not sure what they are hoping to achieve here? If it's AoS but set in the old world then it's not going to appeal to anyone outside the AoS crowd. If it's a return to something resembling old fantasy, they seriously need to rethink their pricing given the model count involved. I'd imagine most of the old fantasy players have moved on by now and probably won't go back.

Personally I'm hoping it means they'll be a return of Mordheim* (which will be easier in the short term for them).

* As long as they don't change it to much. ;)

And yes, I know it's unlikely, but:
a) We said the same of Blood Bowl, Necromunda, Epic...
b) Even if it doesn't, if they make a decent range of non-AoS fantasy figures there aren't a shortage of games they can be used for.
